Emotional Regulation in Adolescents: A narrative review
Adolescence is a period of emotional, physical, and psychological changes. Temporary variations of mood are a part of normal adolescent development. However, it becomes a cause of concern when these changes last longer and significantly affect academic performance, interpersonal relations, and overall psychosocial development. The objective of this review is to evaluate the significance of emotional regulation in adolescents, to discuss the various factors associated with the development of emotional regulation and elaborate upon the available assessment methods and strategies. The review also highlights the implications of ER interventions in adolescents.
