Anorexia nervosa - Binge - eating/ purging type in an adolescent boy: A case report
Abstract
Anorexia nervosa (AN), has for long, been falsely considered a disorder more prevalent in western female population. It is underreported and understudied in the male population. The management strategies are also mainly female-centric which may be difficult to extrapolate to males. Hence, here we describe the context in which an adolescent boy developed binge- eating/ purging type of AN, discuss the biopsychosocial factors influencing the onset and course of the disorder, challenges in management and strategies used for the same.
